Welcome Trainers!
We’re excited to welcome you to our Pokémon TCG Expanded Format Tournament! Get ready for a day filled with thrilling matches, awesome strategies, and great sportsmanship.
Before we begin, here’s a quick summary of the Expanded Format rules to keep everyone on the same page:
Expanded Format Rules Overview:
-
Legal Card Sets: The Expanded format allows cards from Black & White through the current set, including any special promos marked with the appropriate regulation marks.
-
Deck Size: Each deck must contain exactly 60 cards and no more than four copies of any card with the same name (excluding Basic Energy).
-
Card Legality: Cards must be from official Pokémon TCG sets and must be in English (or another approved tournament language if applicable).
-
Banned Cards: Some cards are banned in Expanded for balance reasons. Make sure to check the official banned card list to ensure your deck is legal.
-
Game Setup: Standard setup rules apply — start with a Basic Pokémon in play, place your Prize cards (6), and flip a coin to decide who goes first.
-
Turn Structure: Players cannot play a Supporter or attack on the first turn if they go first.
-
Sleeves: Cards must be in clean, opaque sleeves that are all the same color and condition.
A Few Reminders:
-
Please be respectful to your opponents and judges.
-
If you have a rules question or need assistance, raise your hand and a judge will help you.
-
Have fun and do your best!
Good luck, Trainers — may your top decks be strong and your coin flips be lucky!
